DONE!

Got the CAT scan done (10 minutes from request to test, then 1 minute wait to get back in with our doc), Dr. Thompson talked to radiologist and bone doc while we were getting everything done (there was a spot on L4 vertebra) and all say NO PROBLEMS!!!!!

Radiologist said that the chest thing is "absolutely secondary to the surgery, and will eventually go away." NO NEED TO FOLLOW UP AT DUKE! That's how confident they are that everything is okay.

Bone guy/radiologist says the L4 thing is nothing to worry about at all, unless you have metastatic cancer, which Dee Dee doesn't have.

That's it folks. Done. See you in a year for routine follow-up. She still technically has cancer, but in the best imagineable scenario. We'll never truly "forget about it," but we'll come pretty close.

We'll talk more later, we're still processing now. And after we eat at Pannekoeken one more time, we're coming HOME!

Hurry home and to making a "new" life without the constant fears and wondering. I told you not to play the "what if" game, didn't I? Oh, yeah, you gave me that advice years ago.

Praise God that everything is "No Problem"

DeeDee and Tony,

I really didn't expect a final posting this early but have been praying for both of you all week and checking the blog often. The tests sound like the pits and you'd have to knock me out to get me inside a "tube" for the MRI. The only one I ever had was in an "open-sided" unit but I'm not sure many hospitals have this type. Anyway, the news is great and I know you can hardly wait to get back home for a celebration with your children.

Now, about that queasiness you were experiencing earlier. Whether it was from nerves or a bug, there's nothing better than to drink Classic Coke or Ginger Ale from the can (no substitutes). It's best to use Coke or Ginger Ale at can temperature or slightly cool. Another thing that the hospital does where I've had some testing is have the patient eat a graham cracker with the Coke or Ginger Ale. The sweet, dry graham cracker works better than regular crackers. Just remember this home remedy the next time you have nausea or queasiness. Considering how my body reacts to any type anesthesia and pain medication given in shot form, I've tried every remedy and this works best.

Love to all,
"Doctor" Aunt Mary

What great news!!!!!! Our family has been praying for you. We missed your blogs the last few weeks since Brian had an emergency eye operation on a detached retina so we're now catching up on news.

Just a quick note to ask if you guys just heard a shout of glee coming from the west out of Charlotte? Don't worry. It was just me! PTL...He is Really Really Good. Always. Psalm 81:10

Well, Praise the Lord! you guys. I just finished getting caught up (as I noted in my earlier comment). Almost being a Tony, though it's not nearly 2am yet! :-)

Talk about the next to best scenario! (Yes, we are praying that it will just up and go away and provide a great witness to all those dr's you have been meeting with!) And, big time prayers answered about the nausea! Tony, I don't know if it was more of a relief for you or for Dee Dee. It would just tear me apart to know my wife was going through that with no way to help.

OK, last comment...I totally understand about the desire to pray and read scripture during the procedures. It's a real blessing to have a "calm" waiting room condusive to prayer and reading with minimal interruptions (Rex has one).
